I know I’ve talked about drug abuse and alcoholism before, and I’ve mentioned that I’ve had friends who had problems, but it’s something I personally worry about. My grandmother was an alcoholic, and I wonder if perhaps I might become one eventually too. So most of the time, I try to steer clear of anything addictive. However, if you’re one of those people who have taken a wrong turn and can’t say no to another drink, or another hit, then please check out this link and get the help you need...

Well this is cool! PayPerPost has received an additional $7 million in funding! I do not know where they get that much money in one lump sum, but I sure am glad for its benefits! They have started a seven-day promotion they are calling Lucky Sevens, in which they are going to release $7k in opportunities for us posties to take! Some (like this one) are small payouts ($10.77), but some are going to be as much as $700! Yayz!

Click here to read the press release... )

So anyway, they want to know what *we* think they should do with the money. I think they should give it all to me! MUAH-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-a... Ok, seriously, they should probably advertise to people who would potentially use their services: advertisers AND posties. I really do enjoy reviewing products and services for PayPerPost; I mean, I get to learn about new things, sometimes as soon as they come out! I would enjoy it even more if there were more opportunities that I could take...

And if any of my readers are interested in viral advertising for *your* product or service, check out this blogger directory of blogs that you could be advertised on. And once again, congratulations, PayPerPost, for doing so well in just one year!

Well, *this* is a new twist on those contest and prize give-away sites! Check out whogets.com... They have tons of different prizes (DVDs, iPods, jewelry, clothes...), it’s free to join, and you don’t get inundated with spam! Here’s how it works: for each prize, there is a limited time when everyone can sign up to win, then, and here’s the twist, seven of those people are chosen at random to write a maximum of 100 words telling why they need, want, or deserve the prize, or they can write nothing at all. Then people vote for who they think should get the prize! Just like American Idol or Dancing with the Stars! *YOU* get to pick the winner! Such a cool idea...

Remember the other week when I posted about the new police cd? (Click here to refresh your memory...) Well the first 100 posties (that’s what they call us) would actually win the CD, and guess what... I DID! YAY! I got all kinds of nifty things too! Look:

The Booty
The Booty
Bunny is very upset that there was nothing for her...
Click for a bigger pic...

There’s a little tin of bright green PayPerPost Putty, a tin of mints (yum), a big green foamy finger, a t-shirt that says “i used to be a stripper” and of course the best part of all: The CD! YAY!

There are SO many good songs on this police cd, I can’t pick out just one. So many memories... Of course my favorite is Roxanne. My mom and I used to sing it to the little fish I had named after the song, and of course the very moving cover done in Moulin Rouge is one of my faves... And I love love love Don’t Stand So Close to Me! And Every Little Thing She Does is Magic... And Walking in Your Footsteps... And, and, and... LOL!

There’s really no other popular band or singer that sound like the Police do: a little reggae, a little ska, some jazz and punk rock... Andy Summers, Stewart Copeland, and Sting all brought their own influences to their albums... And no one sounds like Sting does. Not even his son. And think of all the groups they have influenced! Think of Men At Work, The Outfield, Geggy Tah... (you do remember Geggy Tah, right? *grinz*)

How can you *not* want to go see this band play live??? You can win a New York fly-away to see The Police live! Just click here:

This site is pretty cool! You know how online stores always have that place at the checkout for you to use your coupon codes? Well this website, CouponChief.com, has gathered all those codes in one place for you! They have coupons for different stores, like JoAnn Fabrics, Lane Bryant, and PetCo, and for different categories, like books and magazines, electronics, and music and DVDs... So if you’re doing your normal online shopping, don’t forget to stop there first and see if they have any codes you can use! I’m gonna check out the deals for flea meds in their pet supply section...

So Jacqueline & I are definitely planning to do some traveling. It may not happen soon, but it will happen, and one thing I’ve been doing is checking out the online places like Expedia and Travelocity just to see what the costs would be for hotel or motel rooms, car rentals, plane tickets, cruises, and even any package deals there might be. So when I saw the opportunity to write a review of Hotel Reservations.com, I jumped at the chance! I mean I was going to check it out anyway; why not get paid to do it!

So right on the front page I could see it would be simple to find whatever I was looking for, navigation was very easy. There were tabs for hotels, flights, cars, vacation rentals, and vacation packages; a road trip search; destination guide; and a special section for cruises! I even had the option of browsing the site in a different language or currency (if English or the American dollar were not my choice). They also guarantee that they have the lowest price you can find for what you’re looking for and it’s as painless as a filling out a short form if you do find something cheaper somewhere else. Then they’ll either match the lower rate or cancel your reservations with no cancellation fees. And if you are uncomfortable making purchases online, they even have a toll-free number you can call to make your reservations. And the best part? They are offering a rebate of up to $100 if you book by July 31st for travel through September 30th!

Check out the pricing on this trip to New Orleans for the week of the Fourth of July: Less than $700 per person for a whole week just outside of the city, and only $752 per person to stay in the Garden District. Wanna be right on Bourbon Street? Half a block away for only $768, or $890 to be right on one of Bourbon Street's busiest corners. For a week! And that includes airfare down and back, hotel stay, and car rental! I wonder how much it'll be for Mardi Gras...???

As an unschooler and teacher, I have a unique position, being able to see what schools can and can’t do for children. For my gift-children, every day is a learning experience, every day of the year, even those days when all we do is play. But children, who go to school, take breaks and vacations, especially over the summer, and yet they are expected to retain all they have learned from one year to the next. One way to reduce the loss of the knowledge and skills your child has gained is to continue using them over the summer. SCORE Educational Center’s Summer Program may be just the thing you need. There are several different options for your child, ages 4 – 14, that are fun and can help them start the next year ahead of the game! Click here for more details...

Ok, so I am not a great big fan of scary movies. In fact, I avoid them. I usually have absolutely no desire to see them. Especially anything by Steven King. Sometime in my mid-twenties I just decided I did not like all the violence. But when I saw Hayley post on her blog about this new 1408 Movie, well, I think I really want to go see it! In the theater even! I mean first of all, it has got John Cusack in it. He has been my dream guy since Better Off Dead and Say Anything. And Samuel L. Jackson is in it too! He is such the bad ass. Then the story does not seem so much violent as much as it is scary, which I can handle. I like spooky ghost stories! LOL!

The story, based on a short story written by Steven King, is about a horror novelist (Oo! Authors do write what they know!), who loses his daughter, and after trying to find proof of an afterlife, decides he doesn’t believe there is one, and all this occult business is nonsense. However, after getting a mysterious postcard he starts a new project, “Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms” – starting with room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel, where 56 people have died since the hotel opened 95 years ago, and of course, he will be lucky to survive just the first hour, let alone the whole night! Check out the trailer...

Oh yes, I definitely want to see 1408 Movie in the theater...

Oh this is the coolest thing ever! Check this out! The Celestron SkyScout Personal Planetarium. This is so much better than other telescopes. It uses a GPS with a huge database of celestial bodies, and can locate and/or accurately identify everything in the sky visible to the naked eye! *SQUEE!* No more wondering what the bright light next to the moon is! This will not only tell you what that thing on its screen is, but will also tell you all about it! And you can hook it up to the computer via your USB port and update its database, so you’ll always have the latest astronomical info! So... like I said before, my birthday’s less than 2 months away... Ok fine, if you can’t handle the $399 (which is saving you over $200), then how about some nice digital camera binoculars for my bird watching?

PPP Direct

PayPerPost is now offering a more direct way for advertisers to find and hire people to do their viral marketing for them (remember, viral marketing is a word-of-mouth-type of advertising). Introducing PPP Direct! It’s really a very simple and easy thing to do! All you need to do is just specify the amount you want to get paid and add the HTML code for the widget to your blog. Advertisers can then find the specific blogs that interest them, negotiate the terms with you, and hire you to make a sponsored post! Simple!

There are other companies that offer these direct opportunities, but they can charge 50-100% markup! So if you say you want $10 to write an ad, the advertiser would need to pay $15-20 so you can get your $10. Sure, the company needs to charge something; there are costs such as tax reporting, customer service, etcetera, but PayPerPost only charges 10%, most of which goes to PayPal and credit card fees. With PPP Direct, you get to keep the majority of the money that the advertiser is spending, and you still get all the security and safety of working through PayPerPost. You can read more about PPP Direct at their blog and even see it in action...

So click the link, sign up, and ...

I don’t really talk about drugs too often, but I do have friends who smoke pot regularly, and while I’m not convinced that any of them have problems with it, I am sure that they have other friends who probably do. And I also don’t talk about drinking very often either, but I do have friends who habitually get drunk and some could even be said to have a drinking problem. In fact, one of my very best friends has even been through rehab and it changed his life.

I saw him at his worst, and I didn't do anything. I didn't try to talk to him about it or get him some help. I figured he was an adult, he knew what he was doing, and he was the one who needed to make the decision to stop. For a long time I didn't talk to him because I didn't like to see him that way. But I feel like I could have - should have - done more. If I had known about this website, I might have felt less helpless to do anything, I might have been able to get him the help he needed sooner.

So, if anyone thinks they, or a friend or family member, need help for a drug or alcohol problem, check out this website: 1800NODRUGS.com; they can help you find a local drug treatment program and get help. The website has lots of information, an online assessment, and even a toll-free number to call if you need to talk to someone right away.

Bid4Prizes

So as usual, I was scanning the list of opportunities at PayPerPost when I came across this one that’s been on the list for a while now from Bid4Prizes, and I have gone and looked at the site before, but I thought there was some kind of catch of course, so I never took the opportunity. But this time I decided I’d check it out more thoroughly, maybe even sign up. So I watch the little video that have, and click about trying to find the catch. All I can find that might even be considered a catch is, if I don’t want ads, I can pay $9.99 per month to not see them. Honestly though, I’ve pretty much learned to tune them out, so they don’t bother me too much.

Anyway, I decided to sign up and try bidding. I get up to 20 bids per day, and the object is to be the one with the lowest bid that no one else bid. The lowest unique bid wins! And for each bid, I get points that can be used for rewards and a chance to play in the arcade. So what kind of prizes do they have? A big screen TV with surround sound, a Wii, A Playstation 3, cars, cash... but I hope I win the Nakamichi Soundspace, a compact music system, nice and small for our little trailer! So far I've got the lowest bid, but with 4 days left, I'll probably get bumped...

Oh. My. Gawd. I am so psyched! There is going to be a new Police CD! YAYZ! They are one of the first bands I can remember getting into, before Madonna, before Michael Jackson, yes, even before Duran Duran!

Way back in the early 80s, when they came out with Spirits in the Material World. Me and the daughter of my mom’s boyfriend at the time used to put the radio on and dance around like fools whenever it came on, singing into a one of those toilet paper holders as a microphone. That was the first time I fell in love with them.

Then I discovered Spirits in the Material World and Don’t Stand So Close to Me and soon Sting had me wrapped around his finger! (Yes, pun thoroughly intended!) I went out and could only find Outlandos d'Amour but I played that album TO DEATH! I think I still have it somewhere, and still to this day, when the phone rings, I sing, “The telephone is ringing; Is that my mother on the phone?” LOL! Synchronicity was of course my absolute favorite though coming out right when I became an official teenager.

I would so love to get this new Police CD! I can’t believe all the great songs that come on it:

Disc 1:
1. Fallout
2. Can't Stand Losing You
3. Next to You
4. Roxanne
5. Truth Hits Everybody
6. Hole in My Life
7. So Lonely
8. Message in a Bottle
9. Reggatta de Blanc
10. Bring on the Night
11. Walking on the Moon
12. Don't Stand So Close to Me
13. Driven to Tears
14. Canary in a Coalmine

Disc 2: Yes, TWO disks!
1. Do Do Do de da da Da
2. Voices Inside My Head
3. Invisible Sun
4. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
5. Spirits in the Material World
6. Demolition Man
7. Every Breath You Take
8. Synchronicity I
9. Wrapped Around Your Finger
10. Walking in Your Footsteps
11. Synchronicity II
12. King of Pain
13. Murder by Numbers
14. Tea in the Sahara

Ok, so who’s buying it for me? My b-day’s coming up!

Let's talk about something that at first may sound incredibly silly, but in reality, is quite a serious thing to some woman: Vaginoplasty and labia reduction surgery. Well, why in the world would anyone even think of having plastic surgery on that part of their bodies?! you think... Indeed, it would seem that having breast reduction/augmentation, liposuction, or just a face lift would be more bolstering to one’s self-esteem, but a woman’s genital image is just as connected to her sexual self as her breasts, buttocks, or face, perhaps even more so. So, if a woman finds her labia to large or loose, she can now have surgeons redesign them with Designer Laser Vaginoplasty, just as they would a nose or chin. Also a woman may experience vaginal relaxation after having had children, or with age, and Kegels may not always help. In this case, Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation can be used to increase the vaginal muscle tone and decrease the internal and external diameters, which will of course enhance sexual gratification. And is that what we all want?

Ok, so it is a little known fact about me that I like cars. My dad is an auto mechanic, one of the best in the area, specializing in performance vehicles, and I am sure that he is responsible for this quirk of mine. Several old boyfriends shared their love of cars with me too, from Chevelles to Beetles, and now my best friend, Rachel, and her husband, Bill, have an old Studebaker, and they come to town every summer and drag me to the Syracuse Nationals. As for me, when the time comes, I’ll be getting one of these babies:

Look at my snazzy new color bar!

But it would be nice to jazz up the car I drive around every day too. So where do I go to find aftermarket accessories to make my car all pretty? YoCar.com of course! They’ve got wood grain dash board kits, steering wheels, grills, spoilers... All kinds of nifty things! They even have installation videos, which are a must for someone like me, who really has no clue, but can do it if I’m shown how, and a blog to keep you up-to-date on all the new things! Check ‘em out!

So as you are all surely aware of, Jacqueline, the kids, and I live in a mobile home with our three cats and two mice. We rent from an older couple who bought the property themselves (probably from the original owners) on a land contract, and hopefully in time, we will be able to do the same thing. The trailer was manufactured on April 24, 1987, making it just a week and a day over 20 years old. The land lord added a small laundry room off the back, and started remodeling the rest, but never really finished. So the mobile home needs a lot of work, but I still think we are going to buy it, even if it is just for the land.

So one of the things I have been wondering about is insurance. I mean, regular home owners get insurance, and our land lord commented that he had to get special insurance, but how much does that kind of thing cost, really? So one of the places I found was Premere General Agency, a Mobile Home Insurance Agency. It looks fairly simple to get a free quote, and they have even started trying to dispel the myths surrounding mobile home insurance with this press release. They also have a very detailed FAQ section at their website which can answer a lot of basic questions.

Many people believe that if your mobile home is over 30 years old it can not be insured, which is not true. Another myth is that you have to live in the mobile home to be qualified for insurance, but that is not true also. Premere General Agency has insurance for mobile homes built half a century ago, those that are on vacation property, and yes, even for rental properties. Coverage includes not just damage to the mobile home, but also personal property, like cameras, computers, TVs, and so on, as well as personal liability should someone be injured on your property.

I am not sure how much the insurance costs, but I am signing up to have one of their agents contact me for a quote. It will definitely help to know how much we will need to pay in insurance when we purchase the property!
